I was playing this muscled jock and wanted to climb a rope fast enough to catch my friend, who was in the middle of falling. The dm or director said I had to get a 20. I rolled four dice but later found out I should have rolled only two. What is a required 20 and how was I suposed to roll for my character to catch the other guy?

A required 20 is a roll that is such a fantastical feat that the target number of 20 must be met, but the player can only roll 2 dice. That means that if they really want to achieve this superhuman action, they must spend however many action points needed to get to 20.

My character was trapped in a burning house. I decided not to spend the points the put the fire out and ended up taking 28 points of damage. The Director says it was because she rolled a six. What’s the special rule with six?

The special rule with six is this. Any time a six is rolled, it must then be added and re-rolled, with that result added to the total. The six is an exploding dice. So as long as someone continues to roll sixes, they will continue to add and re-roll until they stop. It is very possible to roll 4D6 and do 28 points of damage, thanks to this mechanic of the game.

You will not want to miss reading the introduction to our upcoming movie for the Directors Cut Survival Horror Roleplaying System. Slasher Camp is coming and coming soon. Don’t forget to check back over the next couple of weeks for more information! We know and realize that you have been patient for this long and will just have to take our masochistic ways, at least for a little while longer. Also, do not forget that we will be releasing Cannibal Mines. We are also in the middle (yes, the middle) of coming up with even more movies for you and your groups to make your way through. So while you wait, feast your eyes on this small but juicy morsel of what is to come in Slasher Camp!

She continued to push herself, to keep running through the dark. She had no idea how far she had been gotten, or where she was. Scraping branches reached out and snagged at her bare breasts and tore her cotton panties; blood dripped from her new wounds. Several strands of her wavy brown hair caught in the branches over her head. She needed to make it back to the main cabin. She was covered from head to toe in blood, but not her own. He had been on top of her just moments ago; his tongue plunged deep in her mouth. That was the moment she tasted his blood. His muscular body had gone limp just as he was stabbed in the back with a large sharp stick. The end had cut into her belly as well, but she was able to push him up off of her and start running back to the camp. Their momentary evening tryst had ended in absolute horror. She knew she would never get the sound of his gurgles and the taste of his blood out of her memory. She fought a wave of nausea as she remembered that she continued to kiss him, before she realized something was wrong. Only the sudden piercing pain in her stomach made her stop.

Up ahead she finally saw the cabin she was looking for. She ran, ignoring the tearing of her bare feet as they came into contact with the rough ground. She grabbed the doorknob and pulled it open. Once she jumped inside, she slammed the door shut. Leaning against the door she closed her eyes to the darkness of the room and tried to ease her breathing.

Where were the other counselors? Didn’t they hear her screams? She wondered as she slid down to the floor.

The light in the cabin flickered to life as her almost bare bottom hit the wooden floor. She fought the sight as best as she could, but the image of her friends and co-workers hanging from the ceiling was too much to bear. She stood again to run back outside. She reached for the doorknob and opened the door. There, wearing a black poncho, he stood.

A large machete chopped down.

Take a good look at a new piece of art, created by our amazing artist Elijah Braidwood. This image is just a small piece of what you will get in the next movie created for the Director’s Cut Survival Horror system. Slasher Camp, coming in the next month or two, is all about surviving a few days (and nights) at a kids camp, that seems to have just one small problem. There is a slasher in the midst. You can’t see them. You can only feel the sting of the arrow as it pierces the tender flesh of your left thigh. How will you survive this one?

Make sure you come back often for more on the next Director’s Cut movie in the making. We have a lot more in store for you horror game hungry fans!

Just in case you are not familiar with the Character Graveyard, here is what it is. It is the place your characters go to after they die in a game of Directors Cut. It is the one place your amazing but dead character can live on, the place you can describe exactly how their end was met. It does not matter if they died by pure stupidity, a zombie bite, running out of points, or being bested by the big baddie with the butcher knife. All that matters is that they are not forgotten. Your character’s demise is shared with any and all who read the many obits on the Character Graveyard page on dcrpg.com.

That is not the only thing that matters though. What is really important is the fact that by sharing how your character(s) died, you are entering in a contest, for a chance to win a very nice prize package. These winners are completely picked at random. Seriously, there are some great character deaths listed under the Character Graveyard, and they all have a chance to win something good…just for being listed and shared.

So if you have played in a game or two of Directors Cut, make sure you visit the Character Graveyard. Who knows? You just might win something…maybe that will make your character’s death worth something.

The woman paused only for a moment. The shuffling sound behind her had stopped. She reached down to grab her lighter out of the pocket of her scrubs. After searching for a second or two, she found the item and tried to get a spark out of it. Nothing worked. Now the shuffling sound was back, and she was still fiddling with her engraved lighter in the dark. For a second, she swore someone was screaming in the next hallway.

She craned her neck and stepped into the frame of one of the patient rooms still listening. She couldn’t hear anything, which made the hairs on the back of her neck stand straight up. The silence lasted a few seconds, until there was a rustling noise behind her. She started to turn around, careful to be as quiet as she could, only to be greeted by the site of rumpled sheets on a hospital bed. Returning to her task, she felt her way around the room, running her hands on the walls. She found the light switch with her hand, clicking it on, even though she knew the power was off. She continued to let her hands search for the wall near the bathroom. Feeling the wall give way, she realized she had found it. She could lock herself away and try to call for help, using her pink cell phone. Maybe she could hole herself up in the cold dark bathroom that reeked of antiseptic spray and urine just long enough.

What’s that sound? she wondered to herself. It sounded like it was nearby, almost in the same room. The dripping sound was moving closer, followed by that god awful shuffling noise. It found her! It found her! How the hell did it find her? She didn’t have a chance to recall as a cold bony hand clamped down on her shoulder. Fumbling for the lighter, she found it, and got it to work, only to illuminate the rest of the room. There were three of them here! They found her! Now they reached for her, a piece of her, their claws outstretched and swiping away at the air next to her. She screamed…

What would you do in this situation? Now you can find out in Zombie Hospital, the first movie created for Directors Cut Survival Horror. Adare State Sanitarium has been overrun by zombies. You and your friends are trapped inside. You must find a way out or die. Will you survive or become one of the undead? Or will your friend have to kill you to spare the rest of the group?

Directors Cut Survival Horror Zombie Hospital contains:

-16 pages of maps with every room detailed out. That way, the director can choose to follow the story as is or adapt it to her own liking.

-full color art by Elijah Braidwood

-monster character sheets for the zombies the players encounter. Get a look at the first Directors Cut monster character sheets, before the 100 villain monster book comes out!

Wow! After several months of watching the countdown and preparing as much as our Directors could, we made it to GenCon Indy August 5-8th. This was the largest group of gamers who have ever tried out this system. Our Directors conducted over 30 game sessions. Some three hundred people plus ended up learning how to play Directors Cut Survival Horror. Everyone who participated in these intimate game sessions received a free copy of the game. All they had to do after trying the game was go home, get online, and visit our website.

“This is the bloodiest and goriest game I have ever played.”

“Man, this game really kept me on my toes.”

“Such a great system with characters that are way easy to create in just a few minutes.”

“Gonna have to let all my non gamer friends try it out.”

“I can’t believe how easy it is to create a movie using this system.”

“Hard to believe how simple it is to get through the combats without having to add a bunch of numbers.”

“The hit location dice is genius.”

A few negative things about Directors Cut:

“Too easy to die.”

“Not a game for kids…at all.”
